Very pretty bird.

What a beautiful bird, Charles! . . Congrats on a great photo!

I believe what you have there is the Taiga phase of the Spruce Grouse, isn't it? . Here where I live we have the Franklin's phase. . I've never seen a Taiga phase before, with the distinctive tail band. It's actually pretty high on my 'bucket list'.

Have you ever seen or photographed them performing their mating display in the spring?

Wonderful!

A friend of mine came to photograph our Franklins phase Spruce Grouse one spring. . He brought a caller and a decoy, and man did that ever get the cock going into aggressive display mode!

I wonder if it would work just as well on your Taiga phase?
