This lens isn't in our forum's database, so I can't do a review in the proper section.
--------
My first copy of this lens came a couple of weeks ago, and I sent it back because the focus was too inconsistent.
As far as focus, the second copy seems to work pretty well.
On a 1-10 scale, while considering the cost, I rate this lens as an 8.5.
Things that I like about this lens:
1) The lens hood has a spring-loaded tensioner, which makes removal easy. Installation is also easy because it's low tension. I assume that's because they didn't need to hold it on with torsional friction, due to the tensioner. Except for being plastic, I'd rank it next to the quality of my 135 Sonnar's lens hood.
2) Build quality seems on par with my ART lenses, and perhaps slightly stronger. The AF-MF switch is larger and easier to use than with my ART lenses.
3) Image quality -- Based on the MTF charts that I saw before I purchased this lens, it's slightly sharper than my Otus. And based on the images that I've shot, this claim seems to be plausible. Images are very sharp.
4) Price: Just $900.
5) AF Consistency -- I didn't test this, but supposedly the Tamron is much more consistent than the 35 ART (per Dustin Abbot).
6) The manual focus ring is longer and lighter than my ART lenses, and I find it much easier to focus with.
Things that I dislike about this lens:
1) The lens hood is plastic, like my ART hoods.
2) The manual focus ring isn't long enough. I'm happily spoiled by my Otus, in that regard.
3) It suffers from LoCA. I haven't compared directly, but I suspect that its LoCA is about equal to my 85 ART's.
4) Vignette is a bit strong.
