Hi All, long time no see.

I've done a search, and can't find a mention of this particular issue.

I use BBF to focus (AIServo) and commence metering.

Recently, after I take the photo, the camera continues to focus and meter. This is annoying for a number of reasons, including that I can't view the last shot and it sucks battery life.

I have to switch the camera off for a couple of seconds to stop it. A momentary switch off and the camera keeps right on focusing and metering when it comes back on.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

My first thought was a software glitch. I updated the firmware to the current version, which I thought would effectively refresh the software. No change to the problem.

The AF On button is not visibly remaining depressed, which might account for continued operation. That doesn't mean it isn't a physical button problem, just that it's not obvious from the outside.

Any suggestions before I send it in to Canon?

Cheers,

Damien

I have heard of this issue before and you will probably require service but for fun you could try removing focus and metering from the AF-ON button and assigning it to another button like the * to see if it happens there or assign a different function to the AF-ON and see if that function remains engaged too. Best of luck.

I'll give that a go, thanks.
