I have a shot I want to take that's on the other side of a chain link fence so how to I make the fence not show up. I don't do photo shop (not smart enough) I tried close to the fence, wide open which will be OK for the shot and I still get the fence blur.

Close meaning right up to it? What type of fence? Chain link I am assuming. How about shooting over it. How tall is the fence? can you get close enough to prefocus and set everything manually, then hold the camera above the fence for the shot.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Very close, 1" and manual focus on the object I want to shoot. Tall fence!

I've taken many shots through chain-link fences by centering the lens barrel in one of the spaces and holding it right up against the wires. The latter also helps with bracing. The diameter of my Canon G15's lens is about 7/8". If you need a bigger lens than that, one that would touch the fence, you might try protecting it with a filter holder or some kind of homemade cushioning. Zoom or crop to exclude the wires.

Thanks, I'll try that in the morning.

Couldn't get rid of the fence so I did a heavy crop. I guess a longer focal length would have helped (used 50mm) but not sure of that.
