Most likely in many of your email folders over tha last week...

"Sadly, we’ve decided to close down Irista. We would like to thank you for using it over the years; we hope that you’ve enjoyed the service.
Your account will remain unaffected until 31 January 2020, when it will close. On this date, your details and data will be deleted. Before this happens, you can download your photos and videos by following these three simple steps*:
1. Sign in to your Irista Account using your Canon ID,
2. Click the link next to “Download All Photos & Videos”,
3. Download ZIP files to your computer**."

Super annoying for some I am sure.

A few years back everyone seemed to be jumping on the "share your stuff with us" bandwagon. It was clear that few would endure.

Indeed. Never made sense to me why a single camera brand would have thought this kind of service was a viable option. Pretty sure I never even visited the site to see what was up.

I read Canon sales really slumped. I think others too as the DSLR market went south. When that happens you start cutting unnecessary items or services.

I don't know about this. So what happens after 2 months? People investing all that time to set things up, the editing and then start paying for a subscription they don't want.

Canon appears to have partnered with Adobe to find a new home for Irista members — Canon is providing users with a special promo code that can be redeemed for a free 2 months of 1-terabytes of cloud storage through Adobe Lightroom.

Goodbye Irista, it was nice knowing you.
Actually looking forward to the Canon-Adobe partnership to see what they are going to offer us!

As an Adobe user so am I. For years I had hoped for LR with Canon's RAW engine, their actual colour profiles and DLO. It would be killer combo. Since that would be a big undertaking and to only dedicate that to one brand I'm not going to hold my breath. When you are slumping you don't dedicate your resources to such ventures. The question is will they continue to provide resources for DPP? The base is there but someone has to update RAW, lens corrections. etc. If LR is available why continue with it however there are people who will never go subscription so they could lose customers. We will see.

LR has added some key features in the last few months like texture, Sensie, etc which I think was a direct response to competitors. It is similar to DXO's microcontrast. It has been a few years since I tested C1 so I can't remember what that is called. I processed the same image using the same relative settings using both LR and DXO and normal ISO's and there is little difference in IQ. I actually prefer the look of LR. At high ISO's DXO is the winner which why I keep it around. If LR added an AI NR option that would be something. I like competition.
