Well gotta love the size and weight/especially with the 300PF/4.
Need something for my pink to rest on though...battery grip?
Set up was quick and easy/thanks Phil !!
Typical wonderful Nikon colors.
Perfectly crappola day for light...so good testing ground for AF acquistion.
Nothing flying here, well nothing I'd think about getting.
Hey, it's no a9, but it can take the 300/500PF lenses and that means a lot :)
So 30 min's with it in the field and I'm already pleased.

Needs-
Another customizable button to join AE-L, Fn 1 would be nice. Then one button
for D25/Group (or whatever it is called on this body) and another for single point single
release.
Battery grip or plate for my pink.

Touch screen really nice---learn something here Sony! I can touch letters/number when filling out
menu items=nice!

EVF is fine. Refresh rate in H+ a tad slow, so maybe H for BIF whenever that day comes.

Use? For me long walkabouts when I'm tired of laboring under the biggies. With the 300PF+1.4 it will shine.

Anyway first of several from today-

Nikon Z 50
300.0 mm f/4.0
ƒ/4.0
300.0 mm
1/800

Congrats Robert. Glad to hear "So far, so good". :)

I believe that as you begin to get comfortable with it, things will only improve.

I typically use "H", rather than "H+" and it seems to work well for me. Also, the "I" menu allows another way to make changes on the fly, but it takes some getting used to.

It's been nothing but rain here, so no images to contribute today. :-/

Question, I've read that the eyepiece on the Z bodies is better than most MILC's because it extends back away from the back of the body & your nose doesn't hit the screen. Can you tell a difference, as compared to your Sony's?

Very nice Robert, as was the bluejay.

For an $860 body, it really does nice. :)

Phil yes, better EVF distance than the Sonys standard (I've subbed them out with longer ones) BUT
I have this nice amount of room between nose and LCD, enough to easily manipulate my thumb on the LCD
while my eye is looking through the EVF, so why can I not tap with my thumb where I want the focus point/area
to be while looking through the EVF ??????? Tell your Nikon man to get that fixed :)
The touch screen is super super nice.....just would be better if I could touch to focus while looking through the EVF...
and the Z50 belies its price tag no doubt.

Thanks Phil. Poof said the Blue-J was oversharpened....so I have a bit of learning with AI Clear.
I think the Red-bellied turned out OK and better yet he's sticking around my area so I'll hopefully get a chance on
a better weather day.

I took the Tammy 150-600G2 out for a try with the Z50 today.

Not much except a couple Carolina Chickadees bouncing around the backyard.

Great work with the Tamron and the Z50.

Feet problem....maybe fungal infection. Doesn't quite look like bumblefoot since color is uniform.

Beautiful detail, even with the TC. :)

That 300PF is one heckuva lens too! :)

Another from this morning with the 1.4TC.
I think the effective is 630mm so the in lens stabilization must
be doing something to help a bit.
