Just found this lens on Ebay for $80. As noted at a few reviews I read, fringing is heavy in certain lighting, like when the sun is shining on stuff. Most often I shoot in mild light even with lenses that could keep fringing to a minimum. I used this same flower recently to test a Canon 60mm macro. I found this Canon FD 300mm to be a very comfortable weight, smooth focus, and leaving the colors fairly natural looking. From the few photos I've taken testing it, I'm already certain this is a keeper, even if I get an EF 300mm sometime.

This is cropped about 50%, taken from 10 feet away, at f/16, natural light coming from the home office sliding glass door.

Here's a portrait taken with this lens. The background color are oak leaves about 130 ft. behind. This was in the shade, on a sunny autumn afternoon, using one speedlite and umbrella. The camera body used was a Canon EOS R w/ Fotodiox adapter. I think this was shot at f/5.6 ...

Are FD converters availble for the R? That's good to hear.

Great shots, good examples.

Yes, one, even several converters. Apparently the FD to EF use an optical element, so I just skipped that option, and just got the FD > EOS R / RF adapter because there's no extra glass interfering ... just open all the way through.

Apparently there's an FD to EF-M adapter too, and I may get one of those also if our son who bought my M5 would like to try it.

Here's that lens with the adapter FD > EOS R (RF). I recently bought a small product photography cube, and finally tinkered with it today. Shot all my lenses in it, including this Canon FD 300mm f/4 with the adapter.
