Is there any site I can trust to buy this camera. Or is it just no longer available? Any decent replacement. Need a camera for shooting birds and wildlife for upcoming trip. My 7D Classic is showing its age.

I've seen a lot of 7D Mark IIs on Ebay. Find a buyer with 50 or more feedback (for sales transactions) who's at 100% and you should be as safe as buying from any other used source. Another good source is Facebook Marketplace. That is where I sold my Mark 1.

I sold my 7D Mark 1 a little over a year ago to buy the Mark 2 and I'm shocked at how cheap the Mark 2s are on the used market. I've seen some as low as $600 and I didn't get much less than that for my Mark 1. The Mark 2 is still current and I've not heard about a Mark 3 release . . . why the big value hit?

Before making this upgrade I considered waiting until the mirrorless were out in force and now I wish I did because it looks like I'll take a bath on my 7D Mark II. I'm sure if I were to sell mine I'd get more than $600 since I have under a shutter count under 4k and it's in new condition but still . . .

I'm now considering holding off until they "Mark 2" the mirrorless cameras. Maybe then taking that much of a hit will make more sense.

Reply #2 (“dangermoney”) offers a link to a refurbished body direct from Canon. The 2nd link is a kit with WiFi from Adorama. But most vendors (that aren’t gray market) are showing the body only as discontinued.

Personally, I’d jump on the refurb if the Mark II is what you really want.

Why not the 90D? Canon has added the majority of the 7D features into that body. I have a good friend who got one and he loves it

WRT 7d2 vs 90D/80D

There is so much feedback in this forum on focus speed, pixels etc. unless you are in the top league, all of these cameras perform for the standard of shooting many of us do.

But to be honest, I think a lot of this choice should be determined by factors such as weather sealing and ergonomics.

I have been using a 7D and 7D2 for some years now and it feels right in my hands. The weight, the balance, the controls, the button placement etc all feel like they should.
I picked up a 80D and it just felt wrong.

On the other hand, my sister in law shoots a 80D and when she hefted my 7D2, she had a very negative reaction.

My advice would be to go into a camera shop and try a couple and see which attaches itself to you.

Good points. The 90D, the lightest of the 60D to 90D series bodies, is about a 1/2# less than the 7DII. Whether that means anything is a matter of personal preference. I personally prefer the extra “heft” of a heavier camera as I feel it helps hand held stability.

As a birder that replaced his 1D4 with a 7D2, I am one that absolutely feels that the 90D can NOT replace the 7D2 mostly in regards to AF, but also frame rates, card slots (and type of card) durability, control layout, etc.

Unfortunately for APS-C Canon bodies, the 7D2 remains standing alone in overall performance capabilities.

Plus 1 here: I'm not a big guy but I like the substantial feel of the 7D/7DII. I do feel that it is a sort of natural stabilization system. Throw on a 70 - 200 F/2.8 lens and you've got the makings of a great upper-body workout ! :-)

I'm mainly here for the snacks
