the 5D4 is a really nice camera and lighter but i dont remember by how much. i have to negate some of that lightness by adding a battery grip because Canon's DSLR bodies are too blocky for me to hold comfortably without the grip. the 1DX already HAS that extra surface but its not mostly hollow and it has a bigger battery (weight)...

i know the 1DX has a higher fps rate than the 5D4 does but im able to manage pretty well at 6fps...

I have a 1DX, and wish it were smaller/lighter. If something comes along that is lighter & can do what the 1DX does, then I might switch. Meantime I'll just moan about the weight...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Better sensor and higher resolution and smaller size for me versus fps and battery life.

5D4 is also very competent regarding action, like sports, wildlife, etc.

What do you shoot? I owned a 1Dx and 1DsIII for a few years and loved them but carrying them through airports got old. I ended up replacing them with two 5DIV's and I have no regrets.

Depends on what you're planning to do with them.

For action, wildlife, birding, sports, I'll take the 1DX.

Also depends on if you want a mirror based dSLR still, at this price point.

Very best,

Apple pie or cherry pie? They are both great. It really depends on how you are going to be using it.

It's definitely an answer that needs more questions first.

That said, I was happy with 7FPS, love the sensor and prefer the option to not have a portrait grip installed 100% of the time, so it was the 5D4 for me. It even has certain AF advantages over the 1Dx.

I vote the 5D Mark IV. It's the best DSLR I have handled until now. Here in the UAE, most professionals use the 5D Mark IV exclusively. That being said, don't forget the 1D X Mark III is going to be out in a few months.

Jared Polin FroKnowsPhoto just did a review based on the released specs...

kind of disappointed (or maybe its just me?) that the sensor is only 20mp...

Since the question asked about the 1Dx, and not the 1Dx2 at the time it was posted, I think it's fair to assume that the reason the 1Dx was listed was price point. In which case the $6,500.00 1DXIII is likely a non starter.

5D and 1D has conceptually leveled out to differentiate only w/ FPS.

I believe this thread is relevant in 2005 w/ 1D and 5D, when battery (ni-mh) capacity, focus, sensor, and fps were all different.
