Looking forward to portraits with this lens. This is an evergreen Magnolia in our front yard, for something to start with. I don't expect this to be a razor sharp lens for 30 inch prints, but I can already tell it's going to work for what I hope -- medium size photos and nice color. I've been buying various brands of vintage lenses lately just to add to the look and variety of photo I take. This Nikon 105mm is apparently the same model or very similar to the lens used for a famous National Geographic cover with an Afghanistan girl. The lens is very comfortable to hold and compact. This file is lightly adjusted, and cropped about 50%

Here's a shot taken today with this Nikon 105mm. I also used a Canon 60mm macro, experimenting with a photography cube I ordered. I also shared a sample from the Canon 60mm in a lens thread for the FD 300mm shown. Comparing, the Canon 60mm images look slightly better, but I thought this Nikon 105mm did pretty good. This is not what I bought it for, but thought it would let me understand it better.

Took some family portraits today with my RF 50mm 1.2, then mounted the Nikon 105mm on briefly to see what f2.5 looks like. I focused on the father. This is cropped. Only took a couple shots to get a feel for the depth of field and look.

This is straight of of the camera, cropped. The detail is appreciable considering the glare from snow and hazy overcast.
