I've been running DPP for years with Windows 8.1 Pro x64. I have a dual-boot configuration with Windows 10 Pro x64 and just decided to install DPP with W10. When I try to run it I get the error message below. Obviously, with a dual-boot situation, I've got the same displays working with both Win8 and Win10. Does anyone have any idea what DPP's problem is? Does it dislike Win10?

It's DPP ver 3.4.0.0 (the one that came on the CD with my Canon camera years ago); I figured I have to install that before I can upgrade. I have 3 displays on 2 different graphics adapters but, like I said, it's the same with both versions of Windows.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Hi John - sorry to hear about the headache. My guess, and it's just speculation is that Win 10 doesn't like your several years old program. There's a driver missing in Win 10 or some such hunk of code. By example, I use an Epson scanner I bought in 1999. It dropped dead the moment I installed Win 7. As soon as I purchased those wonderful aftermarket drivers made by Vuescan it got resurrected and I still use the flatbed today.

This won't fix your problem but it might help isolate some of the trouble. Do you get the same error when you change to a different monitor resolution?

Just download the latest and install it. The days of needing an old installation from a disc are gone.

Actually, the new download did require something to be already installed, but it settled for the EOS Utility.

Once I got it installed it ran fine.

Thanks for the replies.

Did you have to enter a serial number before Canon allowed the download of version 4.11?

Yes, I did. But with version 3.15 I didn't have to enter a serial number, I had to have at least one of certain programs already installed. I had them all except DPP so it installed okay.

I got DPP4 because I like to stay on top of what's new and I got DPP3 because it's familiar.:-)

I installed DPP on a fresh work computer without needing a previous installation of anything just recently. Unless somebody installed Canon items without me knowing... :)
