a new zealand flower I believe

Hi,

This photo was is a crop of the original photo. The plan is to have a wide photo rather than a tall one. I am thinking of getting this photo printed on to canvas for a friend, but I am unsure how it looks.

My initial reaction is that it's a cool picture, but the contrast between the totally-in-focus fore with the totally-out-of-focus rear seems a bit harsh. Same pic with more dof would be sweet, methinks; let the pic gradually shift from sharp to blurred as it extends back, might express more depth.

I think the shot is so close and such a shallow DOF, that the picture seems out of context that you can't really tell or appreciate what is in the shot.

I agree with Hellashot, and I also think it's too dark.

thanks for the comments. being an abstract type photo so I wasn't worried about to much about what the shot is about. I didn't think about the DOF and really didn't think about the gradually shift from in focus to out of focus.

I did wonder about it being a tad on the dark side. But I guess where printing it will help. I will try and see how it goes when brighting it.
