Question on my Canon 90D

The other night I was out taking pictures of the moon... I noticed something new in my LCD screen I had never seen before.

In the center of the screen, centered left and right, centered up and down is a circle. I do not know how that got there. but I am liking it!!!

It is helpful in getting something centered such as the moon in your picture. I have no idea how this got there.

Can someone tell me where to find this feature in the PDF manual as to how to turn it on or off?

Likely that what you are referring to is called the “Spot Metering Circle” so see if you manual has spot metering in the Index.

Partial Metering and Spot Metering both have circles, although Partial is a larger circle. How does this affect the lighting in the photo taken?

Does it meter only the light inside the circle? I am guessing that could affect how the image is metered overall?

Since you typically shoot the moon in manual mode, the metering mode doesn't matter to you in this particular situation, but as you found out, having the metering markers helps your composition. You can also put in grid markers if you want, like rules of thirds etc too to help with composition (horizons, etc).
