This is for all who are photographers, creatives, or know one in the United States.

I know you are busy, but I need a few moments of your time. One Senator is holding up the CASE Act. Yes...one will not let it be voted on.

The CASE Act creates a federal small claims solution for when copyright is infringed upon. Currently an infringement must be filed in Federal court costing $200k+ even if the infringement is only valued at $2000.

The CASE Act passed the House by overwhelming bi-partisan support. It wasn't even close--there were only about three representatives out of 435 who voted against it.

One Senator, Ron Wyden of Oregon, is preventing the bill from being released from committee to be voted on by the full Senate.

If you want to help, contact Ron Wyden at 202-224-5244 or senator_wyden@wyden.senate.gov, or go to his Facebook page and urge him to stop harming the creative community and lift his hold on the #CASEact.

Your post seems completely one-sided to me. If you'd like some support on this issue, consider starting with a summary of the CASE Act itself. A well-reasoned and proper defense of each side of the issue should follow. After that is presented, a well-argued case for whichever side of the issue appeals to you would be in order. Then ask for support based on your point of view.

As it is, your post is simply, "Do it my way because I told you to." I quit buying that type of argument almost 60 years ago. I surely hope most folks over the age of 6 or 7 feel the same way.

If you understand how defense of copyright works in the US, the benefit of being able to take such matters to small-claims type adjudication is fairly self-explanatory.

Any argument I propose will be biased in favor of an act that makes it easier for creators without deep pockets to defend their copyright, so you'd still have to do your own research.

I agree with the above poster who suggested that you point folks to some background material first, if you're going to make a call to arms.

Here's a summary from what I hope is a fairly neutral source, with some critique of the bill:
