mike_d, that is some shallow DOF! What is it? I'm thinking cantaloupe? It makes me think of a moon shot. Love the curve.

Yes, that's a cantaloupe. I liked it because it feels like you're in orbit of some alien planet. I almost certainly had as many extension tubes mounted as possible while still allowing focus outside of the lens. Because that's what you do when you first get extension tubes, right? The light was likely from an old LED desk lamp I had at the time.

Sorry for the delay, I just got home from a long day at work. I was not expecting this at all, but thanks.

Lesley, thank you for the challenge. Nice haul of photographs from Chris, Renata, Hye 5, Mike, texkam, Jerry, Ed, Dark, Don and Levina!

Please allow me to post the next challenge tomorrow morning PST, I both need to eat and review past challenges as not to double-up.

Thank you again, and I will post back in this thread with an explanation as to what is in my photograph and how I captured it...really quite simple.

Congratulations, Jason! The moment I saw the image I thought: that's it...
A worthy winner.

Congrats to Ed as well.

Great entries all around though, I thought.

The subject of my entry is a scalp massager node, as seen here on my noggin'.

THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff.

This is a similar setup as to how I photographed this life-size (1:1 mag) macro.

This is a simple result from the above set-up, though it was shot at f/3.5 (max ap for that lens) which is a world-of-difference than f/2.8 when shooting true macro.

However, I took more time setting up and composing my entry's composition, and I had utilized a more pleasing background palette of color with a few of my wife's blouses, namely a teal and magenta blouse that composed the background coloring of my entry....

Have a good new year.

jason

.

I love the transition from yellow to pink - the softness of the edge is perfectly rendered.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Thanks for the photo set-up explanation, Jason! I would never have guessed it was a scalp massager, lol. Pretty cool!
