Not away just overloaded work, family, health - just life.

A person could spend 24 hours a day on this forum if life didn’t get in the way!

I think of buildings here in Oklahoma as old, then I remember over yonder where you live and suddenly Oklahoma doesn’t have any old buildings! The oldest church in Oklahoma was built in 1845. Pretty young by European standards.

I don’t have any photos of it, but google Wheelock Church to see it.

Rumors abound that the church and adjacent cemetery are haunted. Without going into detail, I can say that my brother and I may have done some things that have enhanced that belief in certain individuals!

This was, until a flood a few years ago destroyed it, was one of the oldest structures in Oklahoma. It was a watermill in the Choctaw Nation, what is now McCurtain County, OK. These are scans of negatives I found today. Lots of memories from there. I learned to swim in a little pool downstream from these photos.

The gospel song "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" was written here by a slave before the Civil War. I know I've taken more photos at this place, hopefully I will find the negatives in the near future.

That's my son in the top photo, and his good friend in the second.

One more photo from the Watermill. While he looks to be in a very precarious position there is actually a ledge he is standing on. Not near as dangerous as it looks.

Such a vast majority of similar architecture in our country(USA) has been lost to
"progress" as well as apathy, that it makes me ill. We began with such similar
structures due to many of our forebears hailing from your storied lands,
but our society has neither the desire nor the means to preserve such.
