I keep seeing this thread and keep forgetting to post in it. Way back in 2001 I left to serve an LDS mission in the Philippines, well I had purchased an Advantix camera about a year before and had been satisfied with it. I was attracted to the shooting options, especially the panorama mode so I thought I could get some decent landscape photos while overseas. Fast forward to the first area I was assigned to which was a medium sized city about three hours away from Manila. Well at that time all Advantix developing had to be done in Manila which added about two weeks extra turnaround time. I also found that Advantix film was a bit more expensive than regular 35mm film. Needless to say, I put the camera away and bought a regular 35mm point and shoot for the rest of my mission.
Second story, I worked at a camera store from August of '21 to July of this year and the amount of people that would bring in old rolls of Advantix film was quite surprising. At least every other week someone would bring in some old rolls that had been laying around in someone's house for years. There was one lady that brought in 30-40 rolls of nothing but Advantix one week. We would even get some unshot, expired rolls every now and then, we also had a few regulars that still had Advantix cameras they would use on occasion. Anyways it was an interesting concept but didn't last too long with the advent of digital.
Here's some crappy snaps from when I was in the Philippines.
