Going through old photos, my mother used one of these cameras. I'm really surprised by the quality of some of the photos taken with plastic lens cameras and tiny negative size of the film. No, you probably couldn't make a 16X20 print from this photo, but still a lot of sharpness there.
The sun reflecting off of the horizontal tombstone is detracting, but that's a composure problem, not an equipment problem.

Funny story about that film...

Back in high school a friend and I worked at a CVS after school and on weekends. Our manager used to screw us over with not paying us, not letting us take breaks, and making us work beyond what we had been scheduled for.

After 2 yrs of this, one day I ended up printing out the labor laws and slapping it on his desk. I told him I would be calling corporate and to expect to be unemployed by the following week. He begged me not to do it and told me I could have any of one of the cameras they sell at the store (he knew I was into photography). So I grabbed a camera... Then cleared out the entire rack of Advantix film to go with the camera and told him I'd be needing this also. I had 17 3-packs of the film. I still have a few packs somewhere in my basement and that store manager still works at the CVS.

I keep seeing this thread and keep forgetting to post in it. Way back in 2001 I left to serve an LDS mission in the Philippines, well I had purchased an Advantix camera about a year before and had been satisfied with it. I was attracted to the shooting options, especially the panorama mode so I thought I could get some decent landscape photos while overseas. Fast forward to the first area I was assigned to which was a medium sized city about three hours away from Manila. Well at that time all Advantix developing had to be done in Manila which added about two weeks extra turnaround time. I also found that Advantix film was a bit more expensive than regular 35mm film. Needless to say, I put the camera away and bought a regular 35mm point and shoot for the rest of my mission.

Second story, I worked at a camera store from August of '21 to July of this year and the amount of people that would bring in old rolls of Advantix film was quite surprising. At least every other week someone would bring in some old rolls that had been laying around in someone's house for years. There was one lady that brought in 30-40 rolls of nothing but Advantix one week. We would even get some unshot, expired rolls every now and then, we also had a few regulars that still had Advantix cameras they would use on occasion. Anyways it was an interesting concept but didn't last too long with the advent of digital.

Here's some crappy snaps from when I was in the Philippines.

My mom had one, she took a photo of my dad walking the beach at what used to be named Point Barrow, Alaska. Broke just about every rule of photography, but still won Grand Champion photo at the McCurtain County Fair. If I can find it I’ll post it here.
