HAPPY NEW YEAR and HAPPY NEW DECADE!

Let's try something New

Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme.

This week the theme is Try Something New! Take a photo in a new method, or a subject you've never used before, or try a New style. It's a New Year, try something New and tell us about what you did and how it is New to you....

As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Tuesday, after the new theme is posted and the following Monday by sunset (Whenever that is for you). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them) but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

This morning (if that counts), I tried macro shots of paint / milk / oil. It was a first try for me and the results were not good at all. I am kind of embarrassed to post the 'best' shot I got.
My guess is that the mixture ratio was not right. I haven't found any guides on how to mix them, so I guess it is trial and error for now.

Sibil, you beat me to it. Do a YouTube search for "paint pours" and you will find all sorts and types of pours.

Sorry Don; please go ahead and post yours. I'd love to see it. I have watched lots of YouTube video. There are some incredible videos out there. However, I haven't seen anybody go into specific details.

Will do. I just got all my materials (paint, glue, and silicone) together and just need to mix and pour when I get a few free hours.

Started playing with acrylic inks dropped into water and soap bubbles. Love those kitchen experiments :)

Here are some abstract photos from my acrylic paint, glue and silicone paint pour. The pour keeps changing as you look at it. Definitely need more practice with my mixing

I have a terrible keeper rate (below %1) when I try oil and water. I had given up on it, until this week's topic prompted me to try again. As luck would have it, I got a few good shots.

Froze a soap bubble in my freezer and tried to shoot it inside the freezer but it didn't work out. I knew it was going to burst when I took it out and was lucky enough to catch it while it burst. The icy blue star collapse :)
And the life of purple frost.
