Um, green is not a primary color. The primaries blue and yellow make green. Here's one with your primaries, red, blue, yellow.

It is in light. RGB is present in most photo processing software. Two color theories are well known. See here.

In painting or printing the primaries are kind of red, yellow and blue but in reality they are cyan, magenta and yellow. Bright red is really a secondary made of magenta and yellow.

Jason, it's true for light. I have an art degree and was taught the subtractive version of color theory which is essential for mixing pigments.

Jason, as the host of the challenge, you're privileged to use the definition of "primary colors" that you prefer, but you can't exclude the other major definition from reality. I grew up with pencils and paints and books that showed the color wheel. There is no way to produce yellow by mixing other pigments. You have to have yellow. You also can't make green or orange without it. RYB is consistent with the sequence in the visible spectrum, where, for example, green lies between yellow and blue (external link)–and that's light, not pigment.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa | Comments welcome

"Once more unto the breach..."

I am not ignoring anything, nor am I denying anything. Furthermore, I understand both Additive and Subtractive Primaries and their relationships. Before this challenge, I did my research, and made my decision.

So, let me clarify as simply as I can;

The theme of this Digital Speed Challenge #589 is Primary Colors, Your submission must include all 3 Primary Colors; Red, Blue and Green.

Lastly, please refer to Challenge rules numbers 7 & 9 as posted in my original Challenge post.

Thank you and have a good challenge.

jason
