Another fantastic image. Interesting that you were able to get below him to highlight the "puffs".

No, one bird forum is enough for me.

Avondale87 -

I am curious as to your reason for visiting various individual bird threads and attempting to direct them to the single, giant "Post your Bird Portraits" thread. That thread is essentially a forum unto itself, but one that lumps every, single, bird under one heading. For myself anyways, I would rather not have to wade through a scattered bunch of common US species in order to find a gem like this Booted Racket-tail.

What is the purpose of that??

Edit. I see I made same suggestion to same poster other day. My apologies. Wasn't intention to badger the poster.

Marcmcc I don't have one skerrick of a problem with your concept. None whatsoever.
I've suggested that to others and they've openly welcomed it as they weren't aware such a thread exists.
Wasn't aware it would be taken as an intention to direct others a particular way.

Happy to withdraw my comment.

The search engine on this forum is brilliant and one can find just about anything so searching for individual species isn't a problem.
You probably know that, some don't.

I was told early on not to barge in on others threads, I'd asked about adding to a thread started by others.
Some are sensitive to that, others say Go for it.

Pitter it's not another bird forum. It's what your post is a part of, but again post individually by all means.

I agree with Markmcc (and thank you Mark). I don't really see what you are about either. Do you have a lot of bird pictures there you'd like us to see? I'll be happy to go look at them but I'm not at all interested in adding my photos to that hodge-page.

Pitter I'm not about anything.
As said, I offered as some aren't aware plus it's met with a far different response, often a big thank you,
Again, I apologise for butting in on your privacy.

As far as hodgepodge, to me it's subjective and I could, but don't, say all these individual posts are hodgepodge.
Again it's all subjective.

Yes I've posted many bird photos as my gallery shows,or a search
Has Markmcc? I'm not sure as I hadn't seen any.
Does either matter? Not really.

All the best and keep posting your magnificent birds from your country.

To answer your question regarding me, the answer is "no" as far as this site. There are many, many places in the internet to post bird pictures depending on your reasons. Many people post pictures on Facebook as a way to get hundreds of "likes". I get the feeling that folks post on here more as an exercise in the photo itself and some are unaware of the species that they've taken a picture of.

When I do post pictures online I post them to eBird, as they accompany my trip lists and I feel like it adds my small contribution to the citizen science of birding worldwide. I can search that site for any species of bird in the world, in any location, right down to a one-acre hotspot to see sightings, pictures, (hear) recordings, and see historical trends. To me, that is the best place for MY pictures.

But I do enjoy this site for information on equipment, techniques, and yes, even to look at beautiful pictures and birds!

Thanks Pitter for your comments

Marcmcc I can relate to your comments.
My interest in birds is about the bird.

I commend you for your eBird efforts, I've done similar here a couple of times for Tasmanian site.
It's good to help the wider community and I imagine its the place where collectively help if needed can be driven from plus its where others curious to find out can discover the world of birds and their environs. And that needs encouragement which is one reason I enjoy seeing for egs birds, insects from South America.
