The stickied thread asks for book suggestions for newbies. But what about the rest of us? Even decent photographers need to improve.

In keeping with the other thread's style, please suggest one book -- but for intermediate to advanced photographers.

I just finished

The Passionate Photographer: Dream It, Be It

A Proven Ten-Step Plan for Success"
By Steve Simon
ISBN 978-1-78157-636-6

I have the 2019 edition which has been revised and remastered since first being published in 2012.
It's not a book about technique/technology. It gives practical guidance on how to get to and accomplish all those things in the Michael Freeman books.

It looks like it's the book equivalent of a motivational speech. Am I correct?

I would spend some time with books like
The Americans by Robert Frank
Yosemite and the Range of Light by Ansel Adams
American Photographs by Walker Evans
The Decisive Moment by Henri Cartier-Bresson
Subway by Bruce Davidson

I know the original question asked for book recommendations but one can always get inspiration and ideas from a good museum. The old landscape masters and portrait artists knew how to capture that special light and compose things in a way that were quite memorable. It's the aesthetic technology that's good in any age ;-)a

Agree Stu. A great piece by Jay Maisel. GREAT ADVICE. He talks about getting inspiration from art/paintings.

Real World Image Sharpening with Adobe Photoshop, by Bruce Fraser and Jeff Schewe.

An in-depth look at image sharpening. No longer in print, I bought my copy used. Also available in Kindle.
I have heard some people call this book a classic on sharpening, and that may be true.

However...the book is 10 years old and pertains to an older version of PS. And now there are tons of books
and videos on PS and sharpening. Still, I think it's worth getting if you can find a copy for cheap.

With the pandemic I went back through my library and started re-reading some books I have. This one has nothing to do with technology, camera settings, etc. It's about "seeing".

It's Not About the F-Stop
