Yeah one card and the reader will be in the box from Canon(only for a limited time!) and another 64GB card is what the cam shop is adding as a incentive to buy from them!

Is that Wex?

That will be a big step up for sure, minus the resolution/pixel density issue. Just make up for that lack of crop factor by getting longer lenses. :)

Holding fire for a few weeks until my regular supplier comes back to me with their price. They've always been very competitive and reliable in the past. I'm hoping they can continue that trend.

Canon is saying the MkIII will more than double the number of shots per charge on the same battery!
(v. 1DX MkII, up from 1,210 to 2,850 shots per charge!! )

Which means it will be really good as I can easily get 10k shots in one day from one battery in the 1dxii !!

A coupla bodies and a few lenses

The very high ISO performance and with the newer focusing technology(which looks amazing), touch screen etc etc is what i am after! and which for me really out ways for me to keep using my "old" 1D4!(not interested in the 1DXMKII, thats to old now IMO!)

Regards the crop factor, i have long lenses and there's always the option to buy a "Bigfoot" suit

Plus i would also like to have a dabble at videography so WIN WIN

Ok,I throw the first stone :-)

I saw that when the specs were officially out people were suspicious but all of a sudden it turned out that it's the ultimate perfect camera, and there's no criticism.

For me, we are living in heaven. If they gave me 6500$ and all the parts of the camera, I wouldn't be able to unite them together and make this product. So complaining about what they deliver will be first world problems. I really respect these guys who produces such excellent products.

But :-P

I don't use the camera for video shooting, what I understand from the things I read is video features are amazing. But they are not meeting the Netflix requirements. I remember once, just to show off, show what the camera was capable of they did shoot one episode of the TV series House M.D. with 5D Mark 3. So you cannot do that with this camera and air it on Netflix which nearly became the monopoly in the market. And whenever someone says bad things about the photography part of this camera the defense is this being a professional sports photographer camera. I'm a bit confused. It cannot be used at the professional level, I guess Canon intentionally crippled it not to kill their EOS-C market , and no sports photographers record videos. So why all the development on the video side of this camera? What I feel is they could offer more on the photography side. Only advantage of having advanced video features I can think of is for wedding photographers, who may use this for shooting photos and record videos.

I also don't think of any point for 20 fps on live view. Who needs more fps uses the optical view finder in my logic. So the improvement is basically 16 fps over the 14 fps mark 2 was offering. The megapixels are same. No one can claim that it's not enough but I'm pretty sure when they were getting 5 mp people thought it was enough as well. The biggest improvement seems to be the autofocus part which I guess the mark 2 owners didn't have too much complain on that.

For the ISO part 1 stop better performance seems promising.

The new Digic X processor calculating hundreds of times better than the older one is impressive. I guess with the tracking face algorithms, especially at fast moving sports events it can help a lot.

Although the CF Express cards are expensive makes sense to me as you need to sacrifice to feed such a beast.

Battery performance is a big upgrade.

The price feels a little more expensive than what I hoped. I thought the price would be around 5500$ and the mark 2 price would drop accordingly when it comes out. But even though it looks like this camera was built in a few years there's in fact 80 years know how behind it. So I respect their pricing.

I was expecting something more. Either the technology is not at the level we think it is or the companies are being stingy to give the technology in their hand for future marketing.

Either way this will satisfy me and keep me busy learning it as I'm someone who touches such high end products only when I visit camera shops. Coming a little behind the technology market I was just able to set my dream lens set, and with one more camera addition(5D mark 4-5 probably) this equipment will hold me for another 10 years I assume. I'll just enrich my lighting equipment in the upcoming years.

I'm hearing exactly the opposite, that Canon didn't hold anything back for video capability this time, that it's out of the park, and that this camera actually puts it directly competing with their Cinema line. As for teh Netflix thing, well there is a very specific list, that grows as new models come out, but at this time it does not appear to include a single camera that was not made for Cinematography. The 2018 list even excluded many from Arri and other high end cinema only companies.

The March 2019 list is LOT longer, but still does include any "photography" DLSR or Milc,
There is no reason to assume;
A- that the 1DXIII should be on the list. (this list certainly does not include the 5D3 or anything like it)
B- that it can't make it to the list either way as yet. (ie: let Netflix decide, not some pundits spouting off before the camera is even released)

In October 2019 Netflix approved the first non cinema "photography" camera The Panasonic S1H;

It hasn't been added to the list above, but apparently it's good to go just a few short months after it's release. Who knows, maybe 1DXIII will make that list?

Also, even though I personally don't shoot video, I can see from sooo many different aspects that Video has become a huge part of these cameras use everywhere. Alan is posting links to various videos right above you,. did you watch any?

Anyway, my point is that as a still only shooter, in no way am I looking at this as being "only video enhancements" I mean, wow, it improves on every aspect of action oriented stills shooting in every category vs. previous models. How are we seeing this so differently here?

Agreed

many of these video enhancements greatly help a stills shooter

A couple of features I really like. complete silent shooting like the A9 and it looks like you can put facial on a face and it wont switch off until you move it to another face. It stays on the face you want it on and it looks like you can move it easier than the A9 to the other with your thumb on the screen....pretty cool feature.....but yeah 6K is a lot of $$$.......must say I love my 1Dx2....the 1Dx3 has a nice touch screen and some other features....but I dont think enough to sway......I may have to get past my fobia and just get 2 systems. compliment with an A9...man I hate that idea...dual glass...hate it hate it hate it

Well, I watched the Adorama and B&H review videos and tried to watch the first video but the sound quality bothered me too much that I couldn't watch it fully. When I have time I'll watch all of them for sure. I also downloaded the white paper document from the Canon website, 50 pages must be explaining a lot about this camera.

Maybe I got some of the things wrong. Built in wifi in 2020, how can it be a big feature? Or 20 mp. People keep talking about sports photographers doesn't need a lot of megapixels but don't they ever crop the photos they shoot? I don't know how good face tracking works on the phones or other cameras but it's quite sometimes they can do that, I guess? Touchscreen is nothing extra but a must be for a camera coming out in 2020 I feel? Illuminated buttons etc. feels like Apple giving one feature at a time with every new phone when it should already be there long ago.

As I kept delaying buying the camera maybe I thought there would be more improvements in time but as you guys follow the market better than me your expectations were more realistic I guess.

I definitely hear you on the 20MP sensor,. it's the one aspect that has me not pre-ordering. (although I am not missing MP on my 7D2, I think (know) I would be @ FF vs. APS-C)

..but I get confused when mention advancements that you feel should be included in a 2020 camera, but at the same time you appear to be complaining about their inclusion?
