I've been photographing dogs at my local shelter and come to realize, for that environment, it's almost as shooting sports and portrait. The shelter has large dog runs for them to exercise so it's always been an issue to get focus, fast. And then, when they're finished running around, it's like a calm portrait shoot.
I'll be switching to Fujifilm X-T3 soon and trying to find a good compromise in a lens that will snap to focus quick but also get the shallow DOF/creamy bokeh that's common with portraits. The 56 f1.2 would open new possibilities to photograph the dogs indoors, in their kennels (some dogs are too scared to go out). There's also the 50 f2 but again, I'd like that little bit faster lens (at a cost, I know).
Anyone ever gone down this rabbit hole? I wish finances would allow for 2 lenses.
