Speaking of miniatures, it's been a while since I've shared my work in this thread. Here are some little porcelain Santas and snowmen that I just finished for the upcoming season.

The "mini" versions are approximately 3/4" (2 cm) tall and the "micro" ones (shown below) are approximately 3/8" (1 cm) tall.

Christmas a few years back we were invited around to our French neighbours, so as a little gift I got some bits of pine and put this together. It's only about a foot long

That's brilliant John.
That's the sort of impromptu "knockup" that makes those special times even more special.

Thank you Richard, but are you incinerating that I knocked up Santa's rain-dear

They are quite delightful and I must see if I can do some more?

Nah! Just an expression!
I could have said "slapped together" :-P
No, just referring to those times we make something special for a special occasion.
But I guess you'd know that.
Ray will fly pass here with his key and give it a few twists to wind things up a bit more :-P

Always loved painting in smallness and sketching etc.
This is a calendar I made for Dad many years ago.
Didn't know I still had it.
It will be passed onto my daughter who loved her G'Pa.

Very nice Richard!!!

thanks Charles :-)

my parents were from artistic backgrounds with Dad's father into photography and publishing (postcards and prints) and mums dad oil painting
These are some old artists paint boxes
The tin one was Dad's father and the wooden one was his mothers.
the colour chart was remade by Dad (I gather) but the old one just covered with new.
It is quite neat. The little tin for the water hangs off the side with a comfortable thumb hole for holding

I acquired the wooden one and used it to paint the calendar above

I just love that kangaroo, Richard, definitely an Oz giveaway.:-)

Just a point of interest to you, Richard, and I have put the key away, if you can watch our BBC channel 4. There was a program on tonight called ’A house through time’. Two very young boys stole a lawyer’s two umbrellas and got deported to Van Diemans Land in about 1820. It followed one of the boys up.

Thanks Ray
I looked into that series.
We're not British enough so barred from viewing.
I tried showing mums passport to no avail
I'd love to watch those series.
We get some similar here, more into old restoration jobs
