baby Plover ~ masked lapwing
Here they live and breed on the streets amongst other places and generally they survive humans :-)

I see it has a dead worm wrapped around its leg and body

its mate suddenly raced across the landscape just as I took the photo. For a tiny bird they can move very fast.

That's our backyard. The mom is about 20' out of the frame to the left. I was about 75' away I would guess. We have a lot of bears around. We ignore them (except to get the occasional photo) and they ignore us.
