Am I the only one excited about this camera?

A sensor designed to be B&W only. Not a color sensor with the filter array removed. 40 MPs in a Leica M 10 body.

I don't shoot Leica but it certainly looks interesting.

Great video explaining some things about a B&W only sensor

John,

And the noise that is there is more like film grain than digital noise.

I played around with a Leica some when I was in Vegas last year, they had a store in the Bellagio if I remember correctly. Very nice camera, although I don't recall off-hand which model I had in my hand. EVF was excellent from what I could tell. They ARE pricey though.

Yes they are not cheap. In my thinking EVF kinda defeats the rangefinder experience. The latest color digital M is the M 10P.

Yeah it definitely wasn't a rangefinder model. I didn't have but a couple of minutes, guy in the store was very nice about it however. Love you have a rangefinder as a walk-around.

John, I use Leica Ms for everything. Sold all my Canon gear over 4 years ago. I have 4 Leica color bodies for my pro work. 2 M10s, M 262 and an M-E and for my pro work that needs B&W the original MM and I use the MM for most of my B&W work.

Leica's lenses are among the very BEST. Zeiss & Voigtlander are also very good. I have a Leica 35mm 1.4 Summilux ASPH FLE, Leica 90mm f/2 Summicron APO, Leica 24mm 2.8 Summarit ASPH, Leica 75mm 2.5 Summairit, Zeiss 35 2.8 Biogon and Viogtlander 50 1.2 ASPH.

I will be getting this new M 10 Mono but probably not before late this year or early next. There is also a very long waiting list so I doubt they will be readily available before 6 months or so.

I know OP (it is honor to know him) and he knows what I have. :)

Leica Monochrome has higher resolution sensor, real rangefinder and takes small lenses. Despite its simple shapes, it is easy to hold and operate. For some of us it important.

As for noise, it is very subjective. I like my Canon DSLRs high ISO bw images. They are just as muddy as my pushed film images. :)
