I'm currently running LR 6.3 and have the 482MB DMG v6.14 file on my pc/thumb drive. My photography PC is never connected to the web unless needed to for an update. I don't want to update if it will cause problems with me using Lightroom 6. I'm not ready to pay for a subscription service.

Thanks for any insight.

I just checked my version. It is 6.14 and I have never 'installed' anything since buying version 6. All of that has been taken care of through 'updates', which you can set to automatic, or do manually through the menu system. From the LIBRARY module (not sure this matters) choose the HELP menu. Near the bottom is UPDATE. I believe that is all you need to do.

FYI: I am using the stand-alone version and do NOT pay a subscription fee.

You can update to 6.14 if you want to. It won't cause any issues. You will get the latest camera RAW. By latest it would be as of December 2017. That was the last LR6 update.

Being connected to the internet has nothing to do with it expect for downloading a version of LR. You can still get older versions at Adobe if you have a valid licence. There is no need to be concerned about the internet. Adobe won't steal your files, etc. I have been on the subscription since 2017, I'm always connected to the internet, LR9 is on my desktop just like previous versions were and I don't have single file in the cloud. All my files are only local drives. I'm not encouraging you to get it, just saying there is nothing to worry about, especially with a stand alone version.

As for auto updates that is all done now for LR6 . There will never be version 6.15.

I use LR6 standalone on Windows machine.
Purchased the upgrade from LR5 when adobe announced LR6 would be the last ver without subscription.

I still had ver 6.1.1 installed.
Had downloaded the 6.14 version and saved to disk.

Just tried installing 6.14 ... it went smoothly but had to provide LR6 upgrade serial number
and also my original LR5 serial number ... and I did have to be connected to internet.

Thank you for all the information.

I know I will have to be connected to the internet, but did you use your saved 6.14 from disk or update from Adobe?

I just want to make sure it goes smoothly as I've read standalone LR6 users unsuccessfully attempted to update to 6.14 and had issues going back to their prior version. Almost as if Adobe set it up this way.
Thanks again.

Did not update through LR ... LR was not open.

The 6.14 file was downloaded from adobe's website many months ago and saved to external hard drive.

Though I'm not on that computer now ... I can show you the folder contents later if you wish.
If I recall it had two items inside the folder.
I clicked on patch installer or something similar.

I think the last download for LR6 from adobe was Lightroom_6_LS11.exe,
not sure if it's still available.

It is but it's difficult to find and seems to be a moving target. If you ordered it through Adobe, I found it this way:

  • Login to your Adobe account.
  • Click on your account icon in the upper right corner and then View Account.
  • On the menu bar (top left), click on Plans.
  • Then click on Order history.
  • Click on the order # for Lightroom 6.
  • Finally, click on Downloads and serial numbers and download the version for your OS.

The file is indeed Lightroom_6_LS11.exe. I downloaded it recently to prep for a new machine but I haven't installed it yet. From what I've read, that is version 6.14. If that doesn't work, contact Adobe, I heard they will send you the download link for 6.14 if you have a valid serial number.

My folder is "Lightroom 6.14" and inside is only 1 file: "setup.dmg"

From a quick Google search, an .exe is Windows and .dmg is Mac. Well that sucks as I use Windows!

I'm going to contact Adobe as I have a valid LR 6 box version w/disc & serial number.

I was on web chat with Adobe yesterday. After explaining that I simply need to upgrade to 6.14, I was transferred to the appropriate department.
Unfortunately never got thru to anyone before the session closed out. I will try again today and if unsuccessful, may have to take you up on the offer. I really appreciate the help/offer and will keep you posted.

Hey there I am also experiencing the issue of trying to update version 6.0 of Lightroom to 6.14, but didn't realize adobe had taken it down in December. I've lost my patience with trying to get it through adobe's support, and so when I found this forum and noticed you had the .dmg file for it, and I have mac, I figured I'd ask if there would be anyway you could send that and I could see if that works. Thanks so much!

I just checked my web software folder that I keep for backup, and while I have upgrade to LR 5.7, and to LR 6.1, there is no update file specifically downloaded to update from 6.1 ot 6.14
It was apparently a direct update.

Contact Adobe Support with your serial number and they will send you a direct link (expires after 24 hours) to download 6.14 which is a full install package - not just an update.
