These shots were taken yesterday, 2 days before the 2-weekend long "Eagle Watch". Hundreds of people show up annually to see the chicken farmer throw out the chickens that died in the barns. He does this from Christmas to the end of March just outside Sheffield Mills, Nova Scotia, in the Annapolis Valley. Yesterday there were about 100 eagles. When I arrived, they were sitting in the trees around the field, screeching, waiting. Then the farmer drove out into the field, threw out the chickens, and they headed in for breakfast. He feeds them twicw a day, at 8:30 amd and 10:30 am.

Nicely done Ian, could image the uncontrolled chaos. Must be quite the spectacular show to see.

Haha yes Dan, good description. It's difficult to decide which direction to point the camera. You almost need a spotter to give you directions. Thanks for commenting.

Those are great Ian! You have a couple of wall hangers there, for sure!

Does he feed every day of the week or only on certain days? And is it only one farmer, or a number of them in the area ?

Thanks so much! He feeds them every day but with some timing differences. He posts a daily report http://www.sheffieldmills.org/eagle-feeder-blog (external link)

I believe other farmers do the same, just not in such a public way. There is another farm around the corner about 3 kms away where around 80 eagles were seen yesterday, but they were much farther away from the road, like 300 yards or so. Or maybe even 300 metres ;)
