Hi,

I figured I go the real source since Apple is all over the map on this question.

I migrated to Photo from Aperture (by mistake really) and Aperture is going away very soon. From what I have read the next OS (Catalina) will not support Aperture.

My Aperture library is 454 GB and the new Photo's library is now about 514 GB (I added photos since migrating).

I have read that Photo's still uses the Aperture Library and you should not delete it.

I have also read that the two libraries are independent files and you can delete it the Aperture Library. With the only caveat being that some images may have not made the migration properly and thus your Aperture library is your backup.

Which is it? I'd like to recoup the SSD space.

I am going to pick up another back up drive tomorrow and move the Aperture Library there. That will be a test I guess, but really would like a definitive answer.

Thank you,

Mike

(PS still on the fence about just migrating to Lightroom, read about the Smugmug plug in, etc, looks nice)
