I just ordered Sigma 18-35mm, any reason to keep my sigma 35mm 1.4 art?

Good afternoon everyone,

I am curious what everyone’s thought and opinion would be with regard my question in the title. I really like my 35mm art lens, but I am not sure there is any reason to keep it at this point. So I am just soliciting thoughts and opinions. Thank you for your time.

If you have a full frame body - or plan to get one someday - you may want the 35
The 35 is a bit lighter, and faster (1.4 vs 1.8) if those are important. Probably a bit sharper too.

trade it for the 50mm art.

I shoot 18-35mm on 7Dii and 24-35mm range is guaranteed sharp @ 2.0. I've printed 4 (IIRC that's on my walls) 20x30 prints from the 18-35mm on 7D (my old camera) and it's good!

I'm looking into buying used 50mm art now.

I'm a little late to this discussion, but wanted to add some thoughts. The 18-35 mm is almost 5 oz, (almost 20%) heavier and 1 and 3/4 inches longer. The extra weight and length is definitely noticable. It is a heavier, bulkier, lens. The 18-35 is also a superb lens and is very sharp edge to edge especially when stopped down to f/2.8. The 35mm f/1.4 is a sharper and better lens however. It is also useable on a full frame body which the 18-35mn is not. The 35 f/1.4 is also currently on sale for $200 off list. If you paid full price for that lens when you acquired it, selling your used copy now may not get you as much as you might hope. If you can afford it, I would definitely hold on to that lens. My personal feeling is if you sell it, you will eventually regret it.

I ended up returning the 18-35mm and keeping my 35mm and buying a Eos R. So far I am super happy with the decision and I am really loving the combo for taking pics of my new granddaughters.

I know the range of the zoom is tempting but I prefer a fast prime. A 35mm is a classic perspective for shooting people and I'm sure that you'll get a lot of use out of it.
