New document released by Canon.
Read the section: Imaging Systems - Cameras.
The future looks bright for higher end cameras.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

Thanks for sharing Frank. For those of you like me who hate wading through the fine print of lengthy financials you can jump to page 13. It certainly looks like they're planning a push in mirrorless although there are other ambiguous statements which make it look like they'll still continue work on other high end systems (dSLR?).

"Although we have launched two full-frame mirrorless cameras as well as ten dedicated
lenses, our lineup is still insufficient. In order to recover from our late entry into the
mirrorless camera market, we have plans to launch a model that incorporates a newly
developed image sensor and image-processing engine that offer even more advanced
features. We will work to raise our presence in the mirrorless camera category, leveraging
large trade exhibitions around the world. Even amid increasing competition, we will expand
sales of higher-end models driven by new products and aim for top market share even in the
mirrorless camera market."

R5 is gonna be a great contender!!!

Also, OLED is talked about it across the report. Perhaps, the next pro cameras may sport OLED screen (e.g. 5D mark V, a vaporwave at moment)

Interesting read. My summary. :)
Page 1,2,3 = blablabla...
Page 4 = We had a horrible year.
Page 5 = Everyone sucked but Imaging systems really sucked.
Page 6 = Why can the exchange rate go back into the 120s 130s? :(
Page 7 = 2020 ain't gonna get a whole lot better
Page 8 = But Imaging is gonna be a boat anchor holding us back
Page 9,10,11,12 = blablabla...
Page 13,14 = Cell phone cameras are decimating the low end, high volume segment and will continue to do so in 2020. We got to go after the pros and enthusiasts as everything else is tanking. We are seriously late in the mirrorless market and need to catch up now else were sunk. ----- Looks good for the rumored EOS R5 and R6. :)
Lots of blablabla.. up to
Page 34,36 - We had a horrible 4 quarter and Imaging lead the pack by a mile.

it will be very interesting to see how Canon evolves to their new reality. Clearly the heady days of 2010 through 2015 are over. Also, it looks like they had some sort of re-org as there are a few blurbs here and there about a restructuring.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Love your summary - a lot less reading and probably far more accurate:lol:
