Official 1dx Mark III owners unite! Post photos and discuss.

Thanks to CPS I received a loaner today to try out. I only had a brief time with it so far. So far the silent mode is very nice, liked that feature on the R. The AF controller is just so nice, very fast and responsive. I only worked with jpegs and the files are really good. I feel like the AF is a little faster when using the 2x but I want to test this against the 1dx II. The AF seems overall just more responsive, at least on the static shots. I hopefully I will get a chance at something in flight before I have to return it. Weather is not great unfortunately. I think Monday will be my best chance for flight. Funny it does feel lighter, I did not think I would even notice it, but I do. Hoping to test out the AF at f11 with my 200-400mm, that could be very nice. Still need to go thru and tweak my settings a bit but overall I think this will be a nice upgrade. Here are a couple shots, nothing fancy but that is all I have around this time of year.

Hoping you can get some BIF work in so you can compare servo performance

You say it seems more responsive. Would like to hear more

Also how does it compare to a 1Dx2 when picking up a BIF thats already in motion and you try to lock it as its moving. This was a notoble improvement with the 1Dx2 over a 1Dx1. Curious t your feelings on a 1dx2 & 1Dx3 comparison

From Images posted, IQ looks almost identical to your 1Dx2 images

Anxious to get your perspective of a 1Dx3 being that much or a lot more bang for the buck V/s the 1Dx2

Yup im on the fence and my brain says to concentrate on the new pro mirrorless.......cant afford both

I tried the RRS L bracket and it is a no go. The camera base is a little wider and the RRS base does not sit flat.

The jpegs are looking very nice especially for the conditions I as shooting in yesterday. Todays weather is crap

For those that use screen grabs, it appears there is no way to do screens grabs with 5.5K or 4K full frame (why Canon why?) The crop mode you can use like the 1dx II. I know you can do it in a outsider editor but in camera is just faster.

I have a 1Dx2 and am considering upgrading. Did you come off a 1Dx2 and can you compare AF systems with a 1Dx3 and a 1Dx2.....I know that when I came off the 1Dx1 to a 1Dx2 there was substantIAL AF performance and of course the sensor upgrade.....Just wondering if its worth the $$ to make the upgrade if your on a 1Dx2

Hi Mike, yes, I have two 1DXMII AND indeed the 1DXMIII is greatly improved in every aspect, so much so it deserves its own designation. I photographing birds in flight and the amount of in focus images is amazing, the only time the focus is off is if I make a mistake. It’s worth the step up!And the image quality is the best ever from any Canon I ve ever used. its a step up as well

Crap. I kept my 1DXII Promedia L bracket/plate, which had literally never been used, based on the assumption it would fit.

It is the Hoodman HLVKIT Live View Kit for DSLR Cameras. I did handhold the 400mm f2.8 + 2x setup and is doable. However I am not sure I could handhold the older lenses like the 800mm because it does becomes front heavy. The 400mm DO II it works great with. It will work great with a monopod/tripod.
