Evening all, thought it was about time I posted a couple of shots from the MKIII.

I originally had a day at Oulton Park for the British GT meeting on Aug 2nd, but things did not go to plan. 2o mins into last race I felt unwell and went to the circuit medical centre and then spent the next 5 days in Stoke hospital having had a heart attack. Well on the way to recovery now but my thanks must go to the medical staff on site and ambulance crew. I can't remember much of the 30 mile ride with blues and two's etc, but hey ho, I'm still here.

So six weeks later and back to the track we go, and this time all was well, even managed to drive home in my own car, so that's a result.

Quite an eventful day. Glad you were able to see it through and return for the next episode without the additional drama this time. I'm sure you were still a bit nervous about returning, but it clearly didn't impact on the photos. Excellent work.

Some more pre-season Covid restricted football taken this afternoon in glorious sunshine, which is rare in this part of the world. 1DXMKIII performed perfectly throughout and handled backlit and strong frontlit photos nicely. AF was spot on throughout using a variety of different settings including single , single with expansion, small head tracking box and portrait style tracking box.
What I would say is the last 2 work perfectly well if you have time to compose and track a player. They are not quick enough to acquire focus in a split second movement compared to the single point acquisition speed, so I would use them sparingly in this environment.

Thanks to Rob, I tried out using the Hoodman Live View kit for football last night. It takes some getting use to and I wasn't able to quickly shift focus when following different players. Not 100% sure if I will continue using it for fast action but I probably need to give it more time.

Nice shots, I agree I like the hoodman loupe but more for static shots, really fast action is a bit tougher. You do get adapted to it a bit. The R5 makes it so much easier being able to use the EVF vs a Loupe. However to take advantage of the tools of the 1dx, I think a loupe is still the best way to go vs holding the screen away from you. Keep up the great shots.
