One of our friendly Nuthatches came back to play today - and I managed to time the shot perfectly for a change. The shadow on the wings is from part of the bird feeder behind it.

Did very well to freeze the motion at such a relatively slow shutter speed for sport. Excellent stuff.

Not posted for a few weeks so a trio from the British Touring Cars at Silverstone.

A very strange day for this year, shirt sleeves and blue skies all day !

I would love to see how the R3 tackles a shot like this, no more than 50 yards away. 100mph+ and head-on. Silly high shutter speeds and keeper rate, maybe 20% with 1DX3. A flying Rick Parfitt Jnr

Dan Lloyd trying to hold off Jake Hill for lap after lap but eventually had to accept runners up spot, still two second place finishes on the day was a good result for Dan

Gyms are so dark. Its a classic trade off between speed and ISO. A little motion blur seems to add some movement to a very dynamic sport.

Irish Premier League football season back in full swing. Very challenging shooting conditions for this one. Extremely harsh sunlight straight across the pitch from where I was sitting for most of the game. No choice but to shoot into it as I had to sit in a position which was favourable for any possible goal celebrations and unfortunately this was the spot.
Difficult to get the exposure right as the players faces would have been dark, plus I had one team in dark shirts and the other in light shirts so it was one of those days when everything was working against me. Evaluative metering wouldn't cut it, spot metering was ok facing one direction but not the other, so partial metering was the compromise setting with some over exposure built in to address the shadows.
Pics as shot straight from the camera, cropped, slight sharpen, touch of contrast, saved, captioned and sent. Overall keeper rate was a lot higher than I expected as once I was content with the basic settings for the sun the camera never missed a shot.

Sorry Mike, which bodies you're referring to? Between the mkii and mkiii or mkiii and R3?
