A little softball camp action. I love how high this pitcher is in the air.

Can't wait for these Navy Blue Angels to perform in my area in Oct. 2022. Just bought a brand new 1DXiii to augment my mark ii. Also picked up a 400mm 2.8ii.

Not fantastic shots - but quite interesting the way the long tailed tit took off then turned around and came back down again!

Hand held, about ISO1600 and 1/320" - 300mm with 2x on it.

The swarm came back again this evening - can almost set your watch - as being the end of the day when the light is not great!

Picking my 1DX Mark III tomorrow, did this improve? Have you upgraded the firmware back to 1.60?

Heavy rain all day yesterday so R3 kept under wraps and mkiii resurrected for football. Worked tethered in the pouring rain to the laptop. Thankfully the icap rain housing does a brilliant job to keep the rain off the laptop, and I'm able to work away through the game sending images to the media agency as the game progresses. Used the USB-C hub with the mkiii connected to the Dell XPS and thankfully no random disconnections as I'd previously suffered with the R3, and previously with the mkiii, using the camera's USB-C port for the output to the laptop.

Which do you prefer then, sun or rain, or a bit of both. I love motorsport in the rain, images have so much more drama to them.

Cannot remember the last time I was out in it, 3 days at Silverstone over the Bank Holiday, shirt sleeves all the time.

Cracking pics, I need to try an R3, need to see how good it is with really fast stuff head on.

Prefer dry and overcast to be honest. I can work with the rain provided theres no wind to mess up the lens front or the laptop if I'm shooting tethered.
I've used the R3 for the NW200 and the Isle of Man TT and its awesome. The AF tracking comes into its own and sticks like glue.
The electronic shutter is a bonus as I can shoot all day long and not have any concern about the physical shutter getting hammered. I generally shoot at the 15fps as its more than enough for motorsport. 30fps is great for cricket in short bursts especially if theres a wicket or lbw, run out etc as a lot of that is so quick you'd miss it.

A quick mess around with the car early one morning last week, been meaning to do his for a while but never got around to it.

Set up on tripod, multi shots whilst altering the polariser, try as I might, I could not kill all reflections. This is 5 shots composited, not a bad result but could be better in my opinion.

Is the r3 not weather sealed to the same degree as the mkiii, Dave?

I believe the hotshoe is the weak link.

It's volleyball season so I've been in the gym for the last couple of months. Took some really nice shots at University of West Florida's last match against Lee. They were raising money for breast cancer so it was a colorful 'Pack it Pink' match.

A few more shots. I'm useing Capture One as my editor, file management tool and it seems I'm always needing to add a pinch of 'sharpening'.
