This will be my last post for a bit, heading to Florida for a few days.

It is really warm down here, come on down.

I was using the 1DxIII with the 300mm f2.8 ISII + 2x convertor today. I got the shot below in hazy sunshine which made for a nice BG, problem was the bird was so backlit (with the BG highlights correctly exposed) it was a virtually unrecognisable silhoette on the Raw file. Needn't have worried, the DR on the camera saved the shot:

Another shot with the 300mm f2.8 IS II + 2xTC III. This time a 100% crop to give a portrait shot of a Cormorant in the late afternoon sun:

Wow, that's fantastic, Mark. Just goes to show that the 20 megapixel sensor is adequate!!!!

In a way its good that you aren't alone. I've bought a couple of new Canon bodies in the past that have had focus issues and it does play on your mind when you report the problem and the response you get back makes it out like its something you're doing wrong. Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of the issues very quickly as they can't afford to have any technical gremlins ahead of the Olympics otherwise a lot of pro togs will be holding unto their MKII's for another few months.

Brought my camera out to test after watching that video. The viewfinder clears but it doesn't prevent me from starting it up immediately with the shutter button. Doesn't cause my camera to hang. *shrug*

I've never had the issue he is showing here. I just had random crashes/restarting using live view, or my lenses totally stop working and need to restart the camera.
SO i guess is good/bad from what he is showing. Is others with issues... but also not the same issues I had.. lol.

So i guess Canons got some things to figure out...
