Jun 11, 2020 02:38 | #1173 The issue of poor focus due to heat haze was supposed to have been addressed in this camera, according to Canon in their launch promotion material. I'm hoping that is the case, as its one of the reasons I jumped in to purchase. Whilst we don't suffer from a lot of heat in this part of the world, we do suffer a lot from heat haze from road surfaces, particularly around mid-day period, which has long been a fly in the ointment for many Canon users who shoot motorsports. The camera's AF would rarely lock on to the subject and trying to get a sharp shot from distance was often a nightmare. www.davidmaginnissportsphotography.zenfolio.com/

The camera's AF would rarely lock on to the subject and trying to get a sharp shot from distance was often a nightmare. The only solution, which seems to work, is to shoot down from a stepladder to get above the visual disturbance between you and the subject. So apart from a bag full of big lenses, spare bodies, laptop and other accessories add a stepladder to the mix and a days motorsport shooting suddenly becomes an expedition requiring sherpas. Add in hiking though fields, over hedges and ditches and you soon discover how fit you really aren't. ![]() David I did find improvement in the haze regard, prior AF would hunt and not lock on, now it seems to lock on much better. The haze is still there but you get usable shots. Here is one which had a bit of heat haze. You can see the haze in the top part of the picture. This is with a 2x also which usually makes that worse. flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/robamyphotos/

Excellent, thanks Rob. That worked perfectly. Having seen how your 2x extender works I'm looking to add one to the kit now as it does appear to work much better with the mkiii body than previous versions. Be interesting to see how it performs when combined with the 200-400 f4. www.davidmaginnissportsphotography.zenfolio.com/

I'm working with the local camera shop where I purchased camera and card. They've gotten Canon and Sony involved. Hopefully we can get a resolution. Is anyone else here having this issue besides Kickflipkid687? Hosted photo: posted by bsiegler in ./showthread.php?p=19076624&i=i71108052 forum: Canon Digital Cameras I received my 1DX3 yesterday along with two 128 GB Sony CFExpress cards. Under what conditions do you see the Error 70? I'll try to reproduce it. Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

Anyone else finding this? I am surprised as the literature suggests the new sensor has a higher dynamic range than the predecessor. Don't 1-series Canons have a setting to bias exposure under the hood, beyond what EC does? Maybe that would need to be tweaked to work like the previous camera. Are your metering settings the same? Is it a picture style difference that you forgot about?

In my own experience (66 years old with a bit of shaky hands), camera shake effect is the same whether near or far. Rob mentioned earlier that atmosphere can have an adverse effect. I've seen that many, many times. Here's an example taken with a 1DX2 + 100-400 II (the blurriness is all due to atmosphere). The photo distance is similar to your 400 yards away. ![]() Thank you so much. Vaginator9000

Jun 11, 2020 15:13 | #1182 First outing this afternoon to test the AF of the mkiii since the lockdown was implemented. Unfortunately half the country and their kids headed to the same location so the chance of some decent wildlife was extremely limited. Managed to get access to one of the viewing hides for some relative peace from the hoards and put the partial tracking on, based on the large square in the centre of the frame, and followed a few random birds flying across the lough across my path. Lighting was bright and quite harsh, but I think the AF system held very well considering the contrasty background and choppy waters which would have previously been an issue for the mkii. All handheld shots, with image stabilisation off. Image hosted by forum (1049366) © Red Dog [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff.
