Another update on the error 70. My local camera store worked with Sony and Canon. After much testing and having the error while using the SanDisk card too, they replaced the 1D X Mark III. So far the new body is working well! Keeping my fingers crossed that I just had a lemon the first go round.

They are stunning! Small birds in flight, I've yet to master - not sure I'll ever get as good as these!

Thank you gents. I am amazed I can can use a 2x at 1200mm and get flight shots.

Thank you gents. I am amazed I can can use a 2x at 1200mm and get flight shots.

Inspired by your shots, I picked up a 2x extender on Ebay to see how it behaves on the mkiii. The mkiii extender and mkiii body do seem to work well together, particularly with your 600 lens. Hopefully get mine next week and do some testing.

I think you will be pleased. I have seen increased extender performance on the 400mm DO II, 200-400mm, 400mm f2.8 and 600mm

Howdy fellow photo folks, I'm considering moving up to the IDX Mark III for BIF and wildlife in general. What are some of the features that made your decision to purchase this beauty that aren't readily apparent? How has this camera enabled your continued growth as a photographer? Thank you in advance for any input.

What I like over my previous bodies

> Improved extender performance with both the 2x and 1.4x ver III's
> AF focus is improved across the boards with more usable options
> I personally like how the files process (even over the 1dx Mark II)
> Ability to use full silent shooting
> I like having the OVF or using a hoodman loupe for a more mirrorless feel in one package
> not important to some but for me the video on this is outstanding and the DPAF is outstanding for wildlife ( better cinema cameras for sure but I like having the ability to do stills and video in one smaller package)
> I feel it has improved my EF lens lineup, the 400mm DO II and the 200-400mm seem to be faster in the AF department, definitely when using extenders.
> Ability to focus at f11 in live view, I have stacked extenders with some amazing results with the ability to still use AF
> I do like the CFExpress cards and using 2 of the same cards is nice over using to types of cards
> Batteries do last longer
> I do like the new AF controller but it does take getting use to it a bit

Those are a few of my likes

I do wish it had a tilt screen for lower ground shots and a little bit higher resolution in the 28-30 mp range but I am still very pleased with the purchase overall.

I do feel it is the best BIF camera to date from Canon and I have used a few.
