........and I went for another drive today to see the local celebrity Northern Hawk Owl. He sure didn't feel like sitting still as he flew from tree to tree, most of them far away, in his search for food. I took 272 pics today, and kept 48, way more than I should have but you know........

Thanks very much Greg! Man I’d trade you a NHO for a Snowy any day of the week, I haven’t seen one in years.

Good for you, Ian; great shots. We went looking last week, but did not find one, only lots of crossbills that were too far away.

Good morning Al, many thanks. I timed that visit well, sunny skies, but snow now for the rest of the week. Good luck in your search.

Hi Sandy, thank you. It's really just showing how far up in the tallest trees they like to sit - way way up.

QUOTED IMAGE

.
I especially like the sky color in this image.

Muted, washed out skies are really beautiful, whereas boldly colored skies are garish and unfavorable.

I think the way you could get the sky in your other images to look more like this one would simply be to select the blue channel, and then, within the blue channel:

1: . decrease saturation by a TON

2: . increase exposure by a TON

3: . shift the tint from magenta to green by a little

Then you would get the kind of muted, pastel skies that are so beautiful and don't overpower your subject so severely.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
