This article from a few days ago sums up everything we know so far.

"Man only has 5 senses, and sometimes not even that, so if they define the world, the universe, the dimensions of existence, and spirituality with just these limited senses, their view of what-is and what-can-be is very myopic indeed and they are doomed, now and forever."

Big news

EOS R5 will have 2 slots

1 will be SD and 1 will be CF express..video at 5 minute mark from Fro know photos

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4oD383io-0 (external link)

This tells me it will definitely be quicker than a 5D4

CF express works very well

Sure, it will be faster, IF this rumor pans out. One can be optimistic about developments.

Just 8K video alone will require faster file transfers, much higher resolution needs and file sizes... Between the resolution we know it has to have minimally, and the framerates already stated, the file management needs are greatly increased with this camera.

All we have from Canon officially is the original announcement linked in the first post. Canon hasn't announced ANYTHING else yet about the R5, so we are working with rumors and educated/logical conclusions.

The R5 will have to use a different codec than the 5D4 for video. My guess with HEIF image suppport, H.265 for UHD (which is now a standard HEVC video format).

Canon 5D mk IV
EF 135mm 2.0L, EF 70-200mm 2.8L IS II, EF 24-70 2.8L II, EF 50mm 1.4, EF 100mm 2.8L Macro, EF 16-35mm 4L IS, Sigma 150-600mm C, 580EX, 600EX-RT, MeFoto Globetrotter tripod, grips, Black Rapid RS-7, CAMS plate and strap system, Lowepro Flipside 500 AW, and a few other things...

It is true that if what Canon leaked is accurate, this has to be MUCH faster than 5D4 for processing images, with 20FPS for stills, and 8K video, these specs require a higher MP count and much faster throughput.

All-I 8K at 30fps could have a lot of usefulness. That's basically like 30 medium-quality JPEGs per second. You could use 1/60 if you want to do video, or do 1/400 or faster shutter speeds to use it as a JPEG source.

What I've noticed is that new TVs are using AI to smooth out low frame rates and jerky video, promoting it all to 120 fps. This could mean that one could stick with faster shutter speeds for video, and just have this type of AI smooth it out, and then all the individual frames are worthy stills.

Agreed, and at 8K "medium quality" is definitely subjective! Compared to my first and second third and fourth generation 1D pro bodies, these still grabs from video will have more than double the resolution!

It's higher res than a still from Canon's current top of the line pro 1DXIII !

That was 4 minutes and 47 seconds of my life I'll never get back. You were right about the click bait.....total waste of time. I'll save you all the trouble: he holds a "camera" at the beginning for a few seconds and then runs around Canon HQ burning tape.

That made me decide Peter McKinnon is a bad man, and I don't like him.

So Trek, did you look at this whole video - perhaps I missed something of actual value? Or is the only purpose to boost his site?
