But, given what you said earlier (quoted below), that isn't really a big deal for you, is it?

Tom I was going to shoot 10-12 a year for a couple more years until studio work took off....even at a lower count....thats 25-30K....that always smarts a bit

Initial rumours out there now are 4,300 Euro.

I doubt it will be that.

I have been reading these sites have no idea about the price but always list them far too high. Let’s hope so. It does seem high to me.

I doubt that the Canon R5 would cost that much I hope not. Otherwise I might have to rob a Bank. ;-)a

I can understand Canons desire to price it where the pro cameras have always been priced, and it worked well for them when there was only Nikon as a serious competitor. But if they really do price this as $6800 usd, that's a full $2300 more than the Sony A9II probably a better sports camera and $3300 more than the A7RIV arguably a better studio camera. So who are they marketing this to? Who is going to buy this thing. It's $1800 more than the 1DXII.

If this pricing is close to being true...its not going to sell well at all.....So much for being priced to to the current 5D4.......Im going to guess close to $4500 US price points. And at that price I will probably bow out

What was the 5D4 when it was released?

$3499 usd so this is a full $3300 more. Double the price of the 5DIV, I don't see it. Makes no sense. I would have expected it to be the same or less. It's a mirrorless after all, fewer parts.

Again from reading where this originated apparently a few of these sites have a reputation of throwing out crazy pricing to see if someone will pre-order. Who would do that in the first place. Rich people who have money to burn?

That would make more sense. There are always those who have to have it first and are willing to pay a price for that.

That is true. I just bought my 7D2 and 5D4, both used off POTN, both with low shutter counts and really like them but glad I waited

Those prices will keep many away. The R6 if it holds true to the 20MP don't see many going that route either.Happy with my R

I still say it will be available for $3500 by Christmas.

That might not be the MSRP, but it will be available for $3500 by Christmas.

I bet it doesn't come in a penny over $3500. That's what the 5D4 came in at. With the monster specs that it seems to have, if they put a halfway decent AF system in it, it has tremendous sales potential, especially among those who may have gone Sony but still retain their EF lenses. Price it way above comparable Sony offerings and you aren't going to entice them back.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
