Has anyone gone to the Conowingo Dam park area north of Baltimore to shoot the eagles there? What time of day and what time of year works best? Thanks.

I went one October day a few years ago. Lots of eagles and photographers there all day long. They have a Facebook page and you could probably call them to get more info.

I used to go there a few times a year, not any more.

Activity at the dam seems to be less and less every year, and the active season shorter and shorter. Conversely, the photographer population keeps increasing.

When I first started going there a number of years ago the season seemed to begin in October and continue into January, peaking around Thanksgiving, with 200+ eagles at the site. Last year I was there the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and activity was so slow that I didn't get a single good shot. Parking, even on the busiest days, never used to be a problem, but now the lot at the dam fills early, sometimes before 7:00 am, with parking available in a field about a mile away, with shuttle bus service available.

It's worth a visit if you've never been there, and there is a year-round eagle population in the area.
