Please note .. this poll was determined to be too flawed so I opened a 2nd similar poll that has the body choices separated. Please cast and recast you votes in the other poll, not here.

Thank you.

I would like to run this poll in reaction to a recent thread discussing the most popular types of bodies being used.

I'm curious to see how many people here are using what are considered to be professional bodies such as the 1D series, the prosumer bodies such as the 5D, 6D, 7D series, mirrorless bodies, and Rebel series. Point-n-shoot bodies are not considered here. This has nothing to do with if you earn a living with your camera or just enjoy having a camera. I have set the number of votes to 4 since I think that should cover the people who are using more than 1 type of body at the same time.

Please vote.

(2/18 - edited the wording in the last sentence)

Apologies to all. I inadvertently clicked on the '5D, 6D, 7D' line. I will report my post and ask if moderators can unclick that for me. I also correctly clicked the 80D and Rebel lines. Honestly, most of my photography these days is with Medium Format film. I do use the 80D for live, mobile stuff like birthday parties and dogs running in the yard/park. My landscape work is all MF film. I just 'upgraded' my XSi to T4i, so technically I do use a Rebel. I only use the T4i/24mm STM as a light meter for my 6x6 folders. The 24mm STM has roughly the same vertical coverage as 75-80mm on 6x6, and it gives me a matching photo with EXIF data. I hope that counts as "use".

80D, bag of lenses, box of lights, other toys.

Unfortunately, polls like this will never give anything like an actual representation of the real percentages, because the people who use certain levels of bodies are far more likely to respond to a poll than the people who use other types of bodies. . And they are also far more likely to be on a photography forum in the first place. . So I can't imagine the results being anywhere near representative of what is really being used out there.

I mean, I would think that for every 1D or 5D series user, there could be 20 or 30 Rebel users. . Practically NONE of those Rebel users will ever be on an online photography forum, while 20 or 30 percent of the 1D or 5D users have probably joined a photography forum at some point. . Honestly, the people I know who bought Rebels several years ago (nobody buys them anymore) have no idea that there are even such things as online discussion forums. . But everyone I know who owns a 5D or 1D series participates in some form of online photography community.

Anyway, I am just pointing out that there is no way to glean any useful or accurate information from this type of poll because the demographic being polled is so completely biased toward one extreme.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

It's at least representative for those who click polls. No, wait a minute. It's not, since I should really click two options. I picked the one I use most.

So if you use a 5D, 6D and 7D, do you vote for that option once or three times?

Yes, vote 3 times. I dont know if you can do all 3 at once or have to come back 2 more times. Thank you for the extra effort.

Pick again. I set the limit at 4 votes for people who use more than 1 body type.

If a person uses multiple, say three of the same body, then vote just once for that one type.

I would think the 7D should not be lumped in with the 5D since its a crop body. Just a thought.

You are correct, Tom. This poll will not represent anything or anyone outside of this forum or anything bigger, but it will give a look at the camera bodies being used by active forum members who choose to vote and I hope there are many who do.

I opted to group it there since it has a single digit name, isn't called a Rebel, and has top shelf features inline with the other 2. I realize that isn't perfect.

You are missing my point.
The 5D, 6D,, and 7D are three totally different cameras that should NOT be in the same group, and Canon actually class the 5D as a professional camera.

Voting just once for the 5D, 6D, 7D option actually results in seven different outcomes.

1) 5D only
2) 6D only
3) 7D only
4) 5D and 6D
5) 5D and 7D
6) 6D and 7D
7) 5D and 6D and 7D

The poll allows only 5 lines so some things had to be grouped. I said it wasn't perfect. If the dividing lines are too blurred then later maybe a 2nd and 3rd poll should be conducted. But I'm enjoying this one for now.
