I'm curious. Do you complain about everything? I invite you to close your eyes and pass right over any post I write.

Really?! So you do not want data which you can reasonably interpret to a valid conclusion?!
The criticisms offered by other members points out things which interfere with any valid conclusion from current numbers.

A prime example is, "If you use a 1DXmk2, a 5Dmk4 and a 7Dmk2, you can vote three times, but if you use a 1DSmk3, a 1Dmk4 and 1DXmk2 you can only vote once" is indeed a valid inequality of the poll.

Similarly if you shoot 5DIV and 5DIII, you get ONE vote, but if you shoot 90D and 80D you get TWO.

The effort is to be lauded, but the results are considerably flawed by the structure to the responses.

People are free to do whatever poll they want so if you have a complaint, do your own and see how well you do.

Please help me understand....

The 123 is the number of camera bodies voted for, what is the 62?

Thank you!

I think the 70D and before could be in their own xxD subclass.

The 80D marked the arrival into a much better AF system and higher resolution and better low ISO DR, continued again by the 90D. I see those being in a second subclass of the XXD line.

The Canon AE-1 had an MSRP of $269 in 1976, and in those times the pricing was definitely aimed at a consumer market/entry photographer. The median income in US in 1979 was $16530, so the AE-1 was 1.62% of the median income.

The median US income in 2018 is $63179, the T6 can be had for $400, or 0.6% of the US median income. In 2009 when the median income in the US was $50221, the Canon T1i was $900 with lens, or 1.7%. The prices of cameras have indeed fallen, but only in relatively recent times.

LMAO

I bought my AE1 in 1978 with a 50 mm lens and flash. I was 14. Bought it with my part time job money! Also built a COLOR darkroom and bought a Bogan color enlarger that same year. I also paid my yearly Highschool tuition from the same job. $1200 a year. Prosumer? I was a kid. Also bought a Coastar 135 mm and 35 mm lens shortly there after. And lusted for a Vivitar Series One 75-210 zoom I could never get. Yes I “developed” a photography issue early on.

Mike

I just moved this post to a dedicated thread. Please respond in the other thread.

A question for the 5 series users.

When you bought your 5 series body, whichever model it is, would you have chosen the 1 series being produced at that same time if the 1 was smaller and less weight? Understandably the 1 series was still more expensive and that's okay.

And this morning the count is 78/157.

It is easy to see the 4 most dominate lines, and, the average is about 2 camera bodies per person.

How are you determining the number of camera bodies per person?

I think that many members here have multiple bodies within the same series. . For example, I have two 1D series bodies and two 5D series bodies. . But when I vote, it never asks me how many I have in each series. . So how is it that you are deriving at your average # of bodies per person?

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Tom's questioning the validity of the conclusion is the original thought behind early comments:

"A prime example is, "If you use a 1DXmk2, a 5Dmk4 and a 7Dmk2, you can vote three times, but if you use a 1DSmk3, a 1Dmk4 and 1DXmk2 you can only vote once" is indeed a valid inequality of the poll.
Similarly if you shoot 5DIV and 5DIII, you get ONE vote, but if you shoot 90D and 80D you get TWO."

In the first case, four total votes from two voters; in the second case, 3 total votes from two voters...totalling 7 votes from 4 voters; but Reality is 10 cameras for 4 voters.
Just sayin', as you probably don't like to jump to some wrong conclusions from the poll result.

I have the XSi, 60D and the 90D, but I am only allowed to vote for the 90D
