I find it impossible to read this forum on my 39" 4K monitor, unless I use the Browser's zoom feature, but if I do, the images zoom, too.

I always want to see images at 100% zoom by default, but I have to set the browser to 100% to get that on the single-image page (in Chrome). The font options currently available only have a tiny range in size ("Reading glasses lost" seems to be for 2K monitors). Can't we get some larger fonts available for these high-res displays? We're going to see 8K possibly in the near future, and things are only going to get worse.

Having a 4K monitor should be convenient, but it is a pain very often, because software doesn't usually aid in keeping pixel unity for images, while making text and small icons readable.

Have you a reason for not using Font size control in Windows 10, rather than using the one in your browser?

I can't see the text on this forum, either, at native size. . That is using my 27" 5K monitor. . But all I have to do is use the Apple OS zoom feature (not the browser zoom). . When I zoom in to 175%, then I can easily read the text from a normal viewing distance of approximately 24".

But, as you say, when I zoom in, the images also get bigger. . I don't know any way around that, so I just accept looking at images that look soft and noisy because they're being displayed at an inflated size. . But I'm mostly here to read things and participate in discussions, not to look at images, so that is okay with me.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

For those of us still in the dark ages, and John, could you tell us how to access that feature?

Windows 10 Home 64-bit is what is on my desktop, purchased earlier this year:

  1. Start (Window icon at lower left of screen)
  2. Setup (gear symbol)
  3. System
  4. Display
  5. Scale & Layout
  6. (100%, 125%, 150%...) pick one and instantly see how readable, until you have a satisfactorily readable size

That scales the images too, in this forum, with the Chrome Browser. Some programs do ignore the Windows scaling, though.

I am aware of the fact that some programs, particularly the ones written in the days before 2560x1440 or 4K or 5K monitors existed at affordable consumer prices, that map and control the application's screen layout and typically ignore OS scaling (which did not exist when they were written). Interesting to learn that text scaling and picture scaling are not independent. The original concept of characters is that a text character then might be assumed to be an array consisting of 20 pixels by 15 pixels (for example, only) so displayed on a 96 dpi 1280x1024 19" monitor it is readable but on a 150 dpi 27" monitor it is too small.

Have you tried, in Chrome...

"In the Web Content section, click the Font Size drop-down menu. You can choose between multiple sizes of text ranging from Very Small to Very Large, and the changes will take effect immediately."

... changing Settings, Font Size rather than changing Page Zoom?

The font size in Chrome's settings have no effect on this forum. I already had the fonts set large.

For what it's worth, POTN is very readable to me without changes but I realize it may not be to everyone.

Assuming Windows,
Try holding down the CTRL key while pressing the "+" key. This increases the typeface size while maintaining the pictures. Press CTRL + "0" (zero key) to reset it. As you are using Chrome, you can also go into settings and set the font size and other attributes. (image below- you may need to scroll down to find it). Get to "Settings" by clicking the 3 vertical dots on the upper right of the browser.

I just tried your above suggested setting, and the text gets larger AND also any photo on the page gets larger, too.

Where would that be? Windows just gives me a choice of percentages, AFAIK; no "+". "+" I only see in the browser, and pressing CTRL when I click on it has no effect.

Make sure the browser is the "active window" by clicking on it. This is a browser function, not a Windows setting
I think I'm using a current version of Chrome (80.0.3987.122 ).

The screen shots below are with the default setting (top) and with enlarged typefaces (bottom, while holding the CTRL key, hit the "+" key twice- this is on the keyboard, not anything displayed)
The browser was maximized in my screen, the image got smaller as the type was larger.

Thanks. That works immediately.

When I go with "CTRL -", though, it does shrink the images, too at some point, so there might be some threshold effect.

You are welcome!

Maybe the window needs to be refreshed when shrinking down, after that point?

Also, perhaps the other method (from settings) may work better for you. The images below show how to get to the screen font settings I mentioned above- this is within Chrome, not Windows.
