Here's a photo of a friend's dog that I shot last week-end. Do you notice that there seems to be some "pixel-ation" of the neon-orange frisbee-ring thing? The edges aren't smooth. You can definitely notice it in the 2nd image which is cropped at 100%. I was wondering if anybody else with a 1D MkI has ever run into this... how would you rate the rest of the photo? Would this be a lens issue or a camera body issue? Sensor issue maybe? I've never had this happen before. I snapped a bunch of photos that day, and any one with the frisbee-ring looks like that... all of the rest are fine (at least to my eyes). This was taken straight from the camera, converted from RAW in DPP, and resized via PS7. No pp has been done so that the image is as "original".

BTW... I was shooting with the EF 24-70 L all that day. That particular photo was shot at 70mm, Mode=Tv priority, Tv=1/400, Av=f/4, ISO=200, Exp. Comp.=+1/3, WB=Daylight

Interesting, if it's only the one shot, I wouldn't worry too much. It's definitely a sensor issue as far as I'm concerned. Keep an eye on it, could also be the fact that the contrast between the fluro orange and green grass is causing an issue for the sensor, and it's not handling it very well. Note the dog vs the grass background in the same jaggy image looks ok.

Yeah... I'm not all too worried. Every photo I took with that frisbee-ring in it had that same issue. Those without, had no issues... I figure it might have to do with the colors.

Orange and green are contrasting colours, so it doesn't surprise me. I might test it when I get mine.

My only worry is, how bad will this impact prints. I know that they might ask for prints, probably 4x6's but they might go for 5x7's too. They know that these are digital photos, but still they shouldn't look like that.

Test and see first before giving them a print. I'll test mine (when I get it) and report any issues. Might be worth getting Canon to check the unit as well (providing I don't have any issues with the jaggies that you're seeing with my unit).

Anyone else noticed this type of issue?

Try a different RAW converter. You may find that RSE or C1 handles those edges differently. I am not a DPP fan myself. It is better than ACR (just about anything is), but it has some strange quirks.

If you have PS7, why convert prior to opening the RAW file in PS7?

Just curious. I find that PS CS2 handles RAW images much better than any other program I have.

As far as I've ever known... PS7 cannot handle RAW files right out of 1D. CS1 & CS2 can. Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm always looking for a way to simplify my workflow.
