Those are beautiful Renata.

I am the pharmacist in a small rural hospital in eastern WA state. We haven't been hit hard yet, but the positive tests are ramping up in the county and there have been some deaths in the surrounding counties. It's unnerving to say the least. I work with an awesome team of care givers and we will be giving it our best shot to take care of our community. Our community is a tourist town, with lots of 2nd homes and vacation rentals. We are starting to see those fill up as people come through the Cascade Curtain to escape the west side of the state. That tide may have stemmed some now that the whole state is shut down.

What is the role of the Aloe gel? Can it be substituted?

I have bought some sunburn gels that have glycerin or glycerol with some aloe. The WHO recipe uses glycerin/glycerol and no aloe vera. So those should substitute. Avoid any with lidocaine or other local anesthetics though. If you can find 91% isopropyl alcohol you can use that as well as part of the mixture in lieu of an ethanol based product.

Thank you, Christy.

Good info. I will use it if I can find that product. For the moment I have plenty of my own hand sanitizer made with 150 proof rum (which is only 75% alcohol) and Everclear 95% alcohol

Canada sending PPE to China 100% credible as Justin Trudeau was asked to explain why it was sent and he defended the decision to do so.
Just doing what a decent person would do.

...

Guys, talk privately over PMs, please.

The title of this thread has been changed and includes the wording "no politics" in case you have't noticed.

This thread is vital to all of us and we don't want it to be locked again. We all have been agonizing oven the virus as it has changed the course of the entire world and have made us re-think some values...well maybe not all of us.
Please, do this is for the collective good :) I know I sound like a nutcase but be respectful as this thread is also an anxiety and other "predicaments" ( even if not admitted to verbally) healing place. :)

Please be respectful and stay healthy!

Nicely done - that's more skin retouching than I generally care to do on Photoshop! Is there a story behind the family?

Just my fam. Grand-mom, cousins, and family friends.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Why not use methylated spirits? That is near to pure alcohol and in NZ coloured purple and given and awful smell to deter alcoholics. I think it is wood alcohol, therefore poisonous rather than grain alcohol.

In the past I have used aloe vera plant leaves' sap for skin and wound healing. It is very good on sunburn and mild burns.

That is part of my plans too. I've already scanned and edited thousands, but there are more to do.

Yes I am partway through scanning the old film stuff, had to stop when I was not well a few years back.

Current project is recording the LP library (that now lives under the stairs), better half gave me a record deck with a USB interface for Christmas 'cos my old deck was basically worn out. Rediscovering a lot of early 70's prog rock I forgot I had..... :-D

Can you lot not quote the folks that insist in testing the boundaries in posts, it just gives more work for the mods.

In general this thread has had multiple warnings about turning the thread towards politics.

If some of you keep doing it one of us will lock it again, we know who you are and so do you.

Have you consider 151 proof rum, from your liquor store? ;-)a

There were warnings not use 60%+ proof gin in the UK from the manufacture, I did not really follow why.

I Found this on the BBC site:
Coronavirus: Don't use vodka to sanitise hands (external link)

...But posts on social media that suggested Texas-based Tito's Handmade Vodka could be used instead saw the company cite the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to quickly refute the idea:

"Per the CDC, hand sanitizer needs to contain at least 60% alcohol [120 proof; JWdlft]," Tito's tweeted in reply on Thursday. "Tito's Handmade Vodka is 40% alcohol, and therefore does not meet the current recommendation of the CDC."
