Here in Oz, our Prime Minister has just announced tougher measures such as banning gatherings of more than 100 people, and banning (or maybe just advising against) all non-essential overseas travel.
This morning, I took advantage of the large supermarkets' new opening hours, which allow only pensioners to shop between 7am and 8am. Nevertheless, it was still busy, though it was lovely to experience such a relatively quiet environment, with lots of cheery greetings, muttered "Excuse me" here and there and no unguided missiles (children) ricocheting off everything.
There was only one 'incident' and that was a very stroppy young female manager loudly telling off an old fella who had inadvertently tried to buy too much of something. Given his trolley was almost empty, he certainly wasn't hoarding, yet Miss Angry felt it necessary to lecture him loudly, and tell him that food must be rationed because "young people are humans, too". I reckon she brought her personal opinions and prejudices to work today.
Also this morning, I cancelled two trips we had planned. One was a visit to see our granddaughter in April and the other a month's holiday in Far North Queensland for May.
