Isolation...

QUOTED IMAGE

This is a practice with reflections.. Sorry, it began to seem impossible.. So much above my grade level :p
I tried putting in water, but the fish floated sideways and looks desperate and dead. Gruesome in fact!!
So puttering around this is what I finished with...

one solution to your specific shot would be to take the same dish filled with water minus the fish and blend in PS.

No live classes for 2 months for me, so I had to figure out a video rig for online classes while living in social isolation/distancing at home for 2 weeks.
My rig is extremely primitive and made of whatever I could find in the house, garage and my studio but works like a dream.
Piece of wood supported by a wet oil paint carrier and tripod. LED light strip taped on, camera held by bungee cords and leveled out with chopsticks for shimming. Pardon the mess on my huge studio desk :-)

And one more from me; just experimenting with whatever I can. Lemon slice with a seed pod, little flowers sitting on my tablet.

Cafes and restaurants are closed. There is a curfew.
We can go out with an attestation or an SMS to the authorities to the supermarket or pharmacy. There is a penalty of 150euros for going out without a serious reason...

We are lucky in NZ. Apart from being arguably the most remote first-world country (our nearest neighbour, Australia is 2,000km away), we had a combined response from both left and right political sides of the political divide. The government provided direction, strategy and imposed an emergency that will last until this is all over - so medical and police authorities have extraordinary powers for example, and an absolute lock-down has been imposed for at least 4 weeks. The leader of the opposition has been engaged to chair a bi-partisan committee with many scientific, economic and health experts consulting, to review government actions in real time, and with authority to require people to give testimony and provide any documentation required - that is being used to keep down dissent and improve the response interactively. We're all in this together...

We are encouraged to go for local walks but have to observe the 2m isolation rule and no travel is permitted except for medical purposes, getting food and for those considered essential workers. We can get some stuff by internet shopping. We are into this a week already and we are very grateful for the wonderful, warm and sunny fall weather we are enjoying, so we are spending a lot of time in our garden and these two images reflect that:

Monochrome is a good medium to remove distracting elements, such as colour and to allow us to enjoy form, tone and texture, so I worked on that when I was inspired by the shadow of the trellis on a garden planter - looks a bit prison-like but it doesn't feel like that. But better safe than sorry.

Yesterday was the first time in awhile that I felt like taking the camera out. I came
across these to folks socially isolating themselves.

Great to see photos of Vancouver. It and Victoria are my among my favourite places to live (I spent about 14 years in BC) :-)

I do miss the place and the folks from BC are, generally speaking, such lovely people.

Out on the streets:

The following images were taken from an over-bridge on the main state highway (SH1) that transects Auckland City (population 1.5 million) - in both cases I waited for some time to get the most dense traffic flow.

Normally it's EXTREMELY busy on a workday: in fact from 3:00pm until about 6:30 it is at, or close to, gridlock.

This first image is the scene the day before the NZ-wide lock down was implemented- as businesses had already sent people home and were implementing remote working, and educational facilities were starting remote teaching.
