I've decided to sell my Sigma APO 500mm EX HSM f/4.5 prime lens with hood, fabric cap, case and fixed tripod foot. I bought this lens some 11 years ago and used it mainly for back-garden birding until I bought the 300-800mm and this lens was then rarely used except when I went on holiday because it fits nicely inside my Lowepro mini trekker with other accessories (a small backback is highly unlikely to be marked for hold luggage by the long-distance airlines because it fits under the seat in front). I've included a picture of it in the backpack for illustration. Of course the backpack and contents is not included in the sale!

Shortly after buying this lens I sent it to Sigma HQ for a service. They said the AF motor was underperforming and recommended that it be replaced. I accepted and the work performed was:
Replace circuit
Replace AF motor
Reset, check & test
This cost £200 and brought the performance back to 'as-new'. I will include the Sigma statement of work invoice with the lens.
The external conditition of the lens is good with signs of wear to the paint finish on the body and tripod foot. The glass is in excellent condition with no visible marks that I can see anywhere including the coating. Optically and mechanically it performs exactly as it should on every Canon camera body I've tried it on. The green case shows signs of wear including some scuffs on the black section at the bottom and a 50mm tear (looks like a cut) in the green material on the top.
